In Hawaii, Friday is the day that they take it easy and look forward to the weekend….and my friend Kailani at An Island Life hosts Aloha Friday for bloggers!
I’ll ask a question….something that doesn’t require a lengthy answer….and you leave a comment. Then you can go out and meet some new blogging friends and/or participate in Aloha Friday at An Island Life too!
In Honor of This Weekend….
I’ll admit it…..it’s really sad…..true confession here…….
I haven’t seen any of the nominated movies for Best Picture. You know, the Oscars. It’s not really a surprise, you moms will understand (I hope)….there’s just not that much time in a day, a week, a month. But for fun, I decided to see who was nominated, so I can try to see the movie at some point. Maybe when my daughter turns 10!
Have there always been this many nominees for Best Picture?
Who are you rooting for?
And the nominees are:
#1 Avatar (not released on DVD yet)
#2 The Blind Side starring Sandra Bullock and Tim McGraw (on sale $16.99)

#3 District 9 (Single-Disc Edition) (on sale $17.49)

#4 An Education (on sale $18.99)

#5 The Hurt Locker – starring Jeremy Renner and Ralph Fiennes (on sale $17.99)

#6 Inglourious Basterds (Single-Disc Edition) – starring Brad Pitt and Mike Myers (huge $12.00 DEAL)

#7 Precious: Based on the Novel (on sale $17.99)

#8 A Serious Man (on sale $18.99)

#9 Up (Disney*Pixar) (on sale $17.99….you can get 4 disc Blu-Ray/DVD combo for $17.99 too)

#10 Up in the Air starring George Clooney (on sale $16.99)
Other Movies I’m just interested in (nominated in other categories):
Julie & Julia starring Meryl Streep (***Only $9.99 - DEAL)

I’m not sure but I wote for Blindside!Aloha!mine will be up soon!!
Hmm had no idea the Oscars were coming up. Honestly, I haven’t seen any of those movies yet so my opinion wouldn’t really count.
I am right there with you. I haven’t seen a new release for a long time. I guess since Transformers 2. But, there are many on the list I want to see. Inglorious Basterds, Caroline, etc.
The only one I have seen is Avatar, so I vote for that!
I have only seen two of them. I really hope Avatar gets it. I wrote a review on that one. Loved it.
I’ve only seen a couple of those movies and I don’t know how they stack up with the rest of them, so, I don’t really have a vote…
I also didn’t know the Oscars were coming up!
My Aloha Friday
I saw The Blind Side – it was fantastic!!
And Julie and Julie also fabulous!
i think they said there are normally 5 nominees…
I have not seen any of them, but I am pulling for the Blind Side
I haven’t seen them all but, I’m wondering about Blind Side.
Have a great Friday!

I have not seen any of these movies and I have only heard of a few since they are adaptations from novels. Short answer, I have no idea.
I have seen Up! and Julie & Julia. Thanks to Netflix I catch up on things slowly. Movie theaters are a thing of the past.
I only saw Avatar and it was incredibly amazing!! The best movie I’ve seen this year!
I believe there have NOT been this many nominations before-Although I’m pretty excited that I’ve actually seen AND heard of these movies
As for rooting for, I think I’m going for Up!
Happy Friday!
I too am hoping that Avatar wins. Innovative flim making, exceptional quality.
Well, since it is the only one I have seen I wil root for Up.
I would have to say I have only seen UP which was a GREAT movie. However, my hubby saw Avatar and loved it, and I heard The Blind Side was really good so who knows.
Oh! I would choose The Blind Side!!! Great movie!
thanks for visiting!!!
I think this is the first year for this many movies. I read Julie/Julia. We don’t go to the movies often.
