HiT Entertainment…..the Scoop from Thomas, Bob, Barney & Shaun!

by A Frugal Friend on September 8, 2010

Yes, I’m talking about Thomas, Bob, Barney and Shaun….our favorite friends from HiT Entertainment who have had a very busy summer with new releases. I’ll be bringing some to you today and be on the lookout for some quick GIVEAWAYS too!

Happy 65th Thomas! Yes, believe it or not, our favorite blue tank that was created for a son, by his father, has been around for 65 years. If there was ever a DVD for a Thomas fan to own this one has got to be it…… Thomas & Friends: The Greatest Stories (Two-Disc Special Edition). Why? Well, because there are 20 episodes, including the very first Thomas episode. Not only that, but the compilation includes the voice talents of George Carlin, Ringo Starr, Alec Baldwin and Michael Brandon as narrators.

* Thomas Gets Tricked
* Edward Helps Out
* Diesel’s Devious Deed
* Percy’s Ghost Trick
* Thomas, Percy & the Dragon
* Trust Thomas
* Henry & the Elephant
* Cranky Bugs
* Snow Engine
* Thomas Saves the Day
* Edward the Great
* James Gets a New Coat
* Thomas to the Rescue
* Thomas and the Birthday Picnic
* Emily Knows Best
* Percy and the Carnival
* Thomas and the Birthday Mail
* Sir Handel in Charge
* Skarloey Storms Through
* Duncan Does It All

If 20 episodes wasn’t enough to entertain your Thomas fan, how about this?

  • 6 Games (including the Broken Tracks game…math related)
  • 4 Character sing-a-longs
  • 4 Music Videos
  • Enhanced Read-Along
  • DVD-ROM w/coloring pages & more

Whew! Impressed?  See I told you this was the one to get! But, there’s more….

SIX FLAGS COUPON INSIDE - Yep, I was surprised when I opened up to find a coupon good for Six Flags Theme Park – Get one General Admission Ticket for the price of a child/junior daily admission. Good through Oct 11th!

Bob’s been busy too this summer with the release of Bob the Builder: Building From Scratch on DVD.

Bob the Builder™ and his Can-Do Crew have fun getting it done in these exciting building adventures, now in CGI! Join them as they construct all the fixings for a new athletic field and learn why working together is always the blueprint for success. Scratch, the newest member of the team, has many lessons to learn, such as the importance of taking naps, following directions, and taking responsibility. But he is not alone — Roley, Dizzy, Scoop and the entire Top Team are ready to share in the fun, and get the job done!

If you haven’t yet checked out the new CGI DVD’s, you really should!  It stands for Computer Generated Imagery and it’s so different compared to what we are used to viewing.  I love these newer DVD’s that showcase this new technology.  It’s “pretty”…..a girlish word, I know, but I do think it’s so much more attractive to view.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…..Shaun the Sheep is hysterical. The first time I watched it was in the middle of the night while my daughter had a fever. We sat there in awe as Shaun the Sheep and all the characters made us giggle, yet never spoke a word. That’s true comedy when you can do that. Ever since that day, I’ve been a fan!

The latest DVD from the makers of Wallace & Gromit is Shaun the Sheep: One Giant Leap for Lambkind and includes such episodes as:

  • Shaun Encounters
  • The Bull
  • Hiccups
  • Bitzer Puts His Foot In It
  • Save the Tree
  • The Visitor

Last but not least, Barney released Barney: Songs From the Park (DVD + Music CD). What a deal….you get a DVD plus a Music CD featuring 5 favorite songs including one that I’ve been singing today myself, “Rain, Rain, Go Away”. The DVD actually features 20 songs too….that’s a ton of music.
