My daughter has a wide variety of interests. Lately one of her favorite things….dinosaurs. Though she roars like a T-Rex and loves to pretend she’s fixing something broken with her tools, she still has plenty of “girly” moments. She alternates between princess and ballerina…..sometimes both at the same time.

Several years ago were introduced to Prima Princessa, and in an instant I was a fan……and so was my little girl.

Prima Princessa Presents Sleeping Beauty is latest in the childrens series, joining The Nutcracker and Swan Lake. Prima Princessa (the character above) narrates the story of Sleeping Beauty, not the Disney version, but the actual ballet performed by The Royal Ballet in London, England. It’s breathtaking…..but of course, I’ve always loved watching ballet. The narration helps young kids with the story line, since there are no words. My daughter immediately noticed that the bad fairy was not named Malificient (she’s a Disney kid)!

In between acts of the ballet it’s time for kids to dance. Students at the School of American Ballet showcase some ballet steps and there’s time to practice and dance a bit before the next act starts.

Yes, this means that kids love to dress up in their tutu’s while watching….because they’ll be able to learn ballet!

For extra fun, after the ballet concludes there are bonus features: Tea Party, Acting on Stage, and Fun Floral Crafts! The DVD runs a total of approximately 60 minutes.
