**GIVEAWAY NOW CLOSED**
Congratulations to:
#68 Stacey B

As someone who nursed her daughter for 16 months, I’ll be honest, I don’t know the first thing when it comes to infant formula.

But I found myself interested in this information and Survey, provided to me by StoreBrandFormula.com.

The survey found 74% of moms are cutting back on their family budgets, but are disregarding their budgets when it comes to their baby. In fact, 97% of moms admitted they would pay as much as necessary for products they perceive as “best” for their little one.

  • 68% of moms believe a heftier price tag for formula means that it’s a better quality product.
  • 49% of new first-time moms believe name brand formulas offer more nutritional value than their significantly less expensive store brand counterparts.

Have you ever compared the label of a national brand to its store brand counterpart?  Having breastfed, I never have, but I’m curious if you ever have? StoreBrandFormula.com says there are no nutritional differences.

They even have a Baby Formula Savings Calculator to show how much you could save if you switched to a store brand.

Moms, what do you think?

***Remember to consult your pediatrician on your infant formula choices and issues with switching baby formulas. infant formula choices and issues with switching baby formulas.

My twins were on the preemie formula for six months. They couldn’t nurse, so they got a mix of formula and pumped milk. Once they could be on regular formula, we switched to Parents Choice. It’s cheaper and the label was comparable to other name-brand formulas.

I used Similac–27 years ago!!! I am expecting my 2nd grandchild later this year and thought my daughter in law may like to try this then!

3 Michele P. February 26, 2012 at 1:44 pm

I used Enfamil when my kids were little, with my grandsons it’s been Parent’s Choice and they are doing just fine …

I nursed both of my boys exclusively for over 14 months each… and the only time the first one had formula was when I had to have surgery and didn’t have enough pumped, but I have no idea what they gave him! I’m having twins though and I’m afraid I might have to supplement… but I know nothing about formula either!
I don’t necessarily think the “brand” names are better so we’ll see what happens!

I actually breastfeed my 2.5 month old daughter so we don’t use formula. I do have a tub of Similac on hand for emergencies since I have no frozen breast milk left in my freezer. But we have not had to use it yet. I used Enfamil with my son 4 years ago when he was a baby because we were not able to successfully breastfeed like I had hoped. If I won this I would be giving it to my cousin who is having a little one soon and plans to formula feed. Thanks for the chance!

I used parents choice with iron with my first son. I am due.with number 2 in August. I intend to nurse him, but if formula becomes necessary I will be choosing Parents Choice. I had no idea that all formulas are relatively the same until I saw an ad in a baby magazine for parents choice. I went and read all the labels and decided on Parents Choice, and I would recommend it to anyone!!!!

38 kathy zane March 1, 2012 at 8:45 am

My grandson has been using this all along….He is growing big and strong with no problems…We use premium and do use a lot of the other parent choice products.

39 Mary Anne Correa March 1, 2012 at 8:50 am

I was using Enfamil Gentlease but it was beggining to get really expensive … I talked to my sons pediatrician about switching and not only has it saved us more than 50% on milk costs but I have not seen any difference!!! Parent choice is great!!!

40 Laurie March 1, 2012 at 9:01 am

I used Parents choice for all three of my kids. One is still using it. I can’t see paying double for a name brand when they offer similar or the same nutrients.

41 Chelsea March 1, 2012 at 9:10 am

We used Parents Choice Advantage for my daughter and use it now for my son. It is a great value.

42 Marie Rowe March 1, 2012 at 9:15 am

My baby started out using Similac Sensitive.. Now, we’re using the Parents Choice Sensitive:) You save so much more money& he seems to love it just as much if not more:) Very pleased with Parents Choice:)

43 Echo Marich March 1, 2012 at 9:17 am

I have used parents choice sensitivity for my twin girls as soon as I couldn’t nurse anymore. So for about 5 months now. I follow you on Facebook and I will follow on twitter :) :) my girls love this formula and so do I!!!

I use Parents Choice. I may use name brand if it’s on sale and I have a coupon but normally I buy store brand. In all honesty it’s the exact same stuff. My kids haven’t had any problems on them. My 4th is using the infants formula. :) It sure saves money, that’s for sure!!

49 Rhea March 1, 2012 at 9:43 am

By the way I nurse and supplement. They use Enfamil in the hospitals here but Parent’s choice is the definite way to go cost wise.
Also, I like you on FB, I like Store Brand on FB, and I subscribe to your emails.

50 Lauren March 1, 2012 at 10:41 am

I am a first time mom however I do have twin younger brothers and I remember them being breastfed for the first 3 months and then drinking enfamil and similac, this was because the doctor gave my mom so many trials and samples they actually had enough to last 5 months! Once they were 8 months my parents are did them on baby food and went from there. For myself tho I did not have is many samples so we originally tried to breastfeed because of the great benefits breastfeeding has to offer but also to save money on baby formula, however about a month after I had my daughter I got into an accident with a Semi-truck, due to drugs I was no longer able to breastfeed my daughter. So when it came time to buy baby formula we asked our pediatrician and we compared formulas and we found that parents choice was the best for the buck, a tub of parents choice rings in at a little over 18 dollars a tub and that tub is bigger than the enfamil tub and less than half the price! I couldn’t believe it, but man was I happy to find parents choice!

51 Laura March 1, 2012 at 11:00 am

We started with whatever we could get as free samples for all 3 kids and the hospital used Similac, but we switched everyone of them to Parent’s Choice – due to cost differences – and had no issues with any of them. PC was cheaper than the others even with the coupons we got!

Also a fan of Store Brand Formula on Facebook.

52 trisha j. March 1, 2012 at 11:25 am

I have always used parents choice formula on my two kids and I will still do the same with my third. It has the same nutritional value as the expensive brands but it’s just cheaper. I love buying the parents choice formula because I can save more money for my family. In my opinion just because it’s cheaper in price doesn’t always me it’s cheap quality it just means it’s a better value.

53 Sandy robinson March 1, 2012 at 12:51 pm

I used Similac until we tried “Parent’s Choice Sensitive and are very pleased!!

I have newborn twin girls and am using store brand formula for them and it works great. I know that PBM Nutrionals makes all the store brand formulas – so whether you buy at Wal Mart, Target, CVS, or anywhere else, it’s all the same exact formula! I buy mine at BJ’s Wholesale club, because they have a 46 oz canister for just $19.99 and it often goes on sale for $12.99! Sam’s Club also has a 46 oz canister for same price and they also offer the formula in the different varieties, such as sensitive, soy, etc. More info here: http://www.pbmproducts.com/
