I have had numerous friends and family with the same problem ~ no food, no toilet paper, no electric, no gas to get to a doctor. The problem isn’t going away. We all try to help one another things are very tight.

441 Trudy Z. March 3, 2012 at 3:48 pm: I am surprised at the statistic only because there are a lot of social service programs in place so that no child should go hungry. I grew up in a low income neighborhood and the children I knew who went hungry were the ones with a parent with a drug problem who couldn’t get out and use the services provided for them. With free and reduced lunches in the school and food stamps, no child should go hungry and I would be willing to take anybody to the food pantry or sign up for these services if they are unable to do it themselves.

I never really noticed what people were actually going through until now; until I’m actually going through it too. The government estimated the poverty rate for KIDS in this country will soon hit 25 percent. Those children would be the largest American generation to be raised in hard times since the Great Depression. I pray for the homeless, especially children.
