With one sick Mommy and one sick little girl in the house, we’ve needed a Super Hero. One that runs to the grocery store for medicine and tissues. One that makes us dinner and gives the best hugs. Daddy has been our Super Hero this week.

So, I thought it would be the perfect time to watch a Sesame Street DVD all about super heroes! We got our blankets and tissues, and snuggled up on the couch last night to watch Iron Monster & Sesame Heroes.

Four Episodes Included:

Iron Monster
The Furry Four
Slimey the Hero
Super Grover’s Sidekick

I didn’t realize it when I first looked at the cover, but “Iron Monster” is featured next to Elmo…..and his head is actually an Iron (as in to iron laundry)! It’s actually Grover underneath all that…..and you know how crazy Grover can be. He is at the laundromat because his super hero cape needs to be cleaned. But he decides that people need him (and oh no, he doesn’t have a cape). So, he comes up with “Iron Monster” as his fill-in super hero outfit.

One thing I loved about this first episode is the focus on Math. In fact, at the laundromat you learn about changing money and figure out how many quarters are in $1. That was something new to my daughter, so that was great.

The focus on math didn’t stop at that episode. In fact the entire DVD features Math, Problem Solving, and Social Skills. Sesame Street is silly and fun, but is always educational. That’s why it will always be a favorite in my house.
