In theaters today is the new movie featuring some of my favorite characters………they always have me laughing. It doesn’t hurt that I’m a huge Ray Romano (Everybody Loves Raymond) fan. I’m talking about Ice Age: Continental Drift!
Of course, with the release of a widely popular children’s movie, you can expect to find many new books available. HarperCollins has released several books for all age ranges, showcasing the new plot line and characters.
The basic storyline:
Manny feels like his world is falling apart….and then, it does! When the continents drift and Manny finds himself separated from Ellie and Peaches, he has to fight to reunite his family.
We recently received Ice Age: Continental Drift: Manny’s Big Adventure (I Can Read Book 2) for my daughter starting kindergarten. We’re reading it before seeing the movie in theaters…..I find that it’s always good to do that with my daughter so there won’t be any unexpected surprises (or bad guys).
Of course, when we do head to the theater, I like to make a day of it.
FAMILY FUN PLAN:
- Head to the theater to see Ice Age: Continental Drift
- Re-read the book
- Enjoy a Frozen Icee
What do you think? Maybe even add a craft in there.
Ice Age: Continental Drift: Manny’s Big Adventure (I Can Read Book 2) is a Stage 2 book for kids, meaning it’s a “High-interest story for developing readers”. It does a great job in only 32 pages of trying to explain the entire movie. I’m always impressed how authors can do that.

I won’t tell you exactly what happens in the book, just in case you are heading to the theater. I will say that there are some parenting issues that Manny must tackle (ones that we all will or have dealt with).
There are many more new books featuring the movie:
